LOGISTEED, Ltd. is pleased to announce that the "Reusable Packaging Box for Laptop PCs," developed by its group company VANTEC CORPORATION (hereinafter "VANTEC"), received the "Electrical and Electronic Equipment Packaging Award" in The Japan Packaging Contest 2026, hosted by the Japan Packaging Institute.
This annual contest aims to contribute to the development and dissemination of outstanding packaging and packaging technologies that meet the needs of the times and society.
The awarded packaging box was developed to enable a VANTEC customer to safely and efficiently transport laptop PCs between locations.
Previously, the laptop PCs were transported in the original cardboard packaging in which they had been delivered when purchased, requiring a separate box for each laptop PC and creating issues related to transportation efficiency and complicated management.
There were also risks of theft due to the lack of a locking mechanism and damage due to insufficient cushioning. In addition, because the shape and size of the packaging boxes differed depending on the manufacturer and model, packing and unpacking procedures could not be standardized, resulting in longer handling times.
The newly developed reusable packaging box consists of an outer box and an accessories tray made of plastic corrugated board, as well as cushioning material made of expanded polyethylene foam*. Designed around the concept of "a reusable packaging box that can be carried comfortably by one person," it can accommodate up to six laptop PCs. It also provides protection against drops from a height of 80 cm and has sufficient strength to allow four boxes to be stacked. A padlock can be attached to the outer box to enhance security. The box is also equipped with protective hand hole covers that prevent dust, water, debris, and other foreign matter from entering, providing a structure suitable for transporting precision equipment.
By improving the efficiency of PC transportation through the use of the reusable packaging box, transportation costs were reduced by approximately 75% compared with the previous method. Standardizing packing and unpacking operations also reduced handling costs by approximately 80% compared with the previous method.
