HTS Holds Esports Event, LOGISTEED CO2 CHALLENGE 2022,
Environmental Protection Activities

Since June 1, 2022, Hitachi Transport System, Ltd. (HTS) has been holding LOGISTEED CO2 CHALLENGE 2022, an event where people have fun though Esports while engaging in environmental preservation. The event is a collaborative project with Gameic, All Japan Youth Esports Association (Gameic), and we signed on a partnership agreement in August 2021. Through sponsorship of Esports tournaments, HTS supports Japanese Esports promotion activities and helps activation of cross-generational communication.

Outline of LOGISTEED CO2 CHALLENGE 2022

This is one of HTS's environmental protection initiatives to reduce CO2 emissions by holding and participating in Gameic-approved Esports tournaments. Each event participant is going to reduce 10kg of CO2 emissions by utilizing the carbon offset* system. This initiative supports reconstruction activities in the areas affected by the Great East Japan Earthquake 2011 through the use of credits produced in Tohoku region. The amount of reduced CO2 emissions will be updated in real time on special site launched for this project.

*Carbon offset:
The concept is to make efforts to reduce greenhouse gases such as CO2 emitted by companies and individual activities as much as possible, and to compensate for the amount that cannot be reduced by investing in CO2 reduction activities in other areas.
