HTS Receives Green Logistics Partnership Conference Special Award
at Excellent Logistics Partnership Commendation Program 2022

Hitachi Transport System, Ltd. (HTS) pleased to announce that we received the Green Logistics Partnership Conference Special Award in collaboration with Ezaki Glico Co., Ltd., Glico Channel Create, Inc. and other suppliers at the Excellent Logistics Partnership Commendation Program in 2022. This award is sponsored by The Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry, The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and Japan Institute of Logistics Systems. It is intended to disseminate and promote efforts in cooperation between shipping companies and logistics companies, such as reducing environmental impact and improving logistics operation productivity in order to build a sustainable logistics operating system. This award recognizes business operators that have made particularly outstanding achievements. The award received this time, " Reduce environmental and labor burdens and improve sustainability by streamlining total logistics from upstream to downstream ―Efficient B to B small and medium sized logistics network by setting up a mother center― is in recognition of our efforts to reduce environmental and labor burdens and improve sustainability through improved logistics efficiency that we have worked on together with shipper and other companies.

Summary of the Initiative

For the supply of "Office Glico" products in the Tokyo metropolitan area, until now, each supplier company has made frequent small-lot deliveries to each of the 30 Glico Channel Create sales centers in the area, and unloading has been done manually, so it was a burden of employees. By launching the mother center and changing the delivery method from the mother center to round delivery to each sales center, we have increased the frequency of deliveries while significantly reducing the number of vehicles and reducing CO2 emissions. In addition, the sales centers no longer need to store extra inventory, and the free space is used to store inventory from neighboring sales centers, leading to the consolidation of sales centers. Taking cargo handling efficiency into consideration, pallets are used for deliveries to the mother center, and basket carts are used for delivery from the mother center to each sales center, thereby reducing manual work and unloading time. Furthermore, in some areas, we are working to improve delivery efficiency by carrying out joint delivery with other companies' products.
